Outset Media – “Because Games Matter” – Review and Giveaway (Canada and US)

Technology is everywhere and I, like many other people, embrace it wholeheartedly! That being said, I’ve always been a fan of toys and puzzles that are hands-on, especially those that involve using imagination and developing creativity. Some of my favourite childhood memories involve playing board games with my family as well as learning strategy and problem-solving skills through puzzles. For that reason, I was interested in finding cool toys and puzzles that would encourage the development of motor skills of my girls and bring them together through creative play.

I was excited when I found Outset Media. Outset Media was launched in 1996 by Canadian David Manga. At the age of 23 (which I think it really amazing!) David started Outset Media and designed his first game, called All Canadian Trivia. Since that time, David has developed other games (including the Professor Noggin card game series) and Outset Media also begin distributing other games from companies as well.

I received some Create Your Own Floor Puzzles for the girls. I thought these would be a great creative outlet for the girls because each puzzle has 36 large pieces and allow for the girls to design their own puzzles that can be either one or two-sided. When I showed these puzzles to the girls, they were pretty excited. They immediately set to work colouring a picture for a first puzzle and working together in its design. The end result was a fun and creative drawing done as a team! I found that the Create Your Own Floor Puzzle really did marry creativity and cooperative play with my girls!
